I thought I should make a post today about work I’ve done for a real client recently… Thus, meet Janet Holt, a rancher, who suffered from a mesh implant collapse that caused multiple medical complications, resulting in many surgeries. The lining is used most commonly for hernias and the FDA just issued a warning about the risks associated with the device. You can read a more detailed version of Janet’s story at MSNBC.Originally, we were going to shoot at one of Janet’s rehab facilities (which we did), but after speaking on the phone with her it seemed like showing her in her environment at her ranch would give readers a better idea this person. I trekked the extra distance past San Antonio and was happy I did. I think this really helped put a human connection to the story, rather than showing another frustrated patient in rehab under florescent lights. This also gave us time to get to know each other, become comfortable before going to rehab and share a glass of iced tea.
